UAE Reaffirms Commitment to Palestinian Statehood and Humanitarian Leadership at Geneva Conference.
At the 37th extraordinary conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union in Geneva, the UAE reaffirmed its steadfast commitment to the Palestinian cause. Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the UAE's Federal National Council, emphasized the nation’s ongoing support for Palestinian statehood based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as the capital. This dedication to Arab unity has been central to the UAE's foreign policy since its inception, and the conference served as an important platform to restate this enduring stance.
The UAE's humanitarian efforts also took center stage during the conference, with Ghobash highlighting the significant aid provided to conflict-affected regions such as Gaza and Lebanon. Under the leadership of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE has become one of the largest contributors of humanitarian assistance, accounting for over 40% of international aid to these regions. These efforts showcase the UAE’s role as a compassionate leader in supporting Arab causes and alleviating human suffering.
As conflicts continue to impact the Middle East, the UAE remains dedicated to championing peace and stability. Through its active participation in global platforms like the Geneva conference, the UAE not only upholds its foreign policy principles but also demonstrates its commitment to meaningful action. Whether through political advocacy or humanitarian relief, the UAE continues to lead by example in supporting Arab rights and promoting peace across the region.
