The UAE’s Dh370 Billion Humanitarian Legacy: Building a Global Model for Compassion

The UAE’s humanitarian record has reached unprecedented scale — over Dh370 billion in aid distributed across more than 100 countries, directly impacting one billion people. This achievement reflects the nation’s core belief that giving is not an act of charity, but a duty that defines its identity and leadership on the global stage. Rooted in the legacy of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and carried forward by President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE’s humanitarian vision is built on three pillars: responsibility, collaboration, and capacity. Today, the UAE hosts over 80 international aid organizations, including the International Humanitarian City in Dubai — the largest logistics hub for global relief operations. The country’s rapid coordination during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as its ongoing operations in Gaza, Yemen, and Pakistan, illustrate a model of humanitarian efficiency and partnership that few nations can match. The UAE’s message to the world remains clear...

UAE’s Big Push for Education.

Image
Education isn’t just a luxury—it’s the foundation of everything. The UAE knows this better than most and has been throwing serious weight behind it. On International Day of Education, the UAE reminded everyone that they’re all in, not just at home but globally. Whether it’s kids stuck in crisis zones or countries that need a boost, the UAE is showing up. Take the Digital School, for example. This isn’t just some flashy tech project—it’s real help for real kids. Launched under the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, it’s already reached 160,000 kids across 13 countries and trained over 2,500 teachers. In Lebanon alone, it’s starting with 40,000 kids who would otherwise be left in the cold—literally and figuratively. But they’re not stopping there. Since 2018, the UAE has thrown $200 million into global education programs, helping countries that need it the most. They’re also backing initiatives for Palestinian refugees through UNRWA and giving out scholarships...

The UAE has emerged as a leading supporter of Gaza during one of its most challenging times, providing over $111.8 million in food security this year alone. Through the “Tarahum - for Gaza” campaign, the UAE has mobilized extensive resources to address the humanitarian needs of the Palestinian people, ensuring vital supplies reach those affected by the ongoing crisis. The campaign has included a mix of initiatives: food parcels, aid flights, maritime corridors, and large-scale cargo shipments. Some of the most notable contributions include $30 million for a relief ship carrying 4,016 tonnes of essential items, $20 million in emergency food aid via the humanitarian airbridge, and over $11 million directed specifically toward food security efforts. Together, these efforts reflect a holistic approach to addressing the urgent needs of Gaza’s population. A significant portion of the UAE’s aid has involved logistics-heavy operations to ensure consistent supply chains. For instanc...

Recently, the UAE has pledged an impressive $100 million to support Sudan, with $70 million specifically allocated to UN agencies and various humanitarian organizations. This substantial commitment highlights the UAE's dedication to providing critical aid and fostering stability in regions plagued by conflict and hardship. The UAE's approach not only addresses immediate needs but also aims to support long-term recovery and development. As part of its $100 million pledge, the UAE has recently contributed $25 million to the UN World Food Programme (WFP) to address the urgent food crisis in Sudan and South Sudan.
