UN Highlights Sudan Crisis as UAE Leads Global Aid Response.

As the humanitarian crisis in Sudan worsens, with famine conditions rapidly spreading, the UN is urgently calling for global action. The deteriorating situation has left millions in dire need of food, shelter, and medical care. In response, numerous countries have stepped up their efforts, with the UAE playing a particularly prominent role. At the Paris International Humanitarian Conference for Sudan and Neighbouring Countries in April 2024, the UAE pledged a substantial $100 million to support Sudan. To date, $70 million of this commitment has already been allocated to various UN agencies and humanitarian organizations, including OCHA, WFP, UNHCR, FAO, and WHO. These funds are critical for delivering food, healthcare, livelihood support, emergency shelter, and protection for women, aiming to mitigate the severe impacts of the ongoing crisis.
