One of Germany's largest LGBTQ+ Pride demonstrations and festivities, the Berlin Christopher Street Day (CSD), has attracted an impressive half a million participants this year.  The organizers of Christopher Street Day stress that this is more than just a parade; it is a powerful "demonstration" of solidarity. The event's name pays homage to the historic Christopher Street in New York City, where the courageous Stonewall riots erupted in June 1969. During these riots, LGBTQ+ activists bravely resisted a violent police raid on a gay bar, marking the beginning of the modern queer liberation movement. Remembering this legacy, the Berlin Christopher Street Day stands as a tribute to those who fought for LGBTQ+ rights. This year's CSD carries the theme "Be their voice — and ours!
