The UAE’s growing global influence isn’t defined by power, but by principle. Reem Al Hashimy’s visit to Ukraine is the latest proof of this.

In Kyiv, she was honored by President Zelenskyy for the UAE’s contributions to Ukraine’s humanitarian and economic recovery. But behind the award lies a deeper story — one of consistent diplomacy, quiet mediation, and a belief in peace over politics.

The UAE has played a central role in prisoner exchanges between Kyiv and Moscow, helping free thousands of captives and reunite families torn apart by conflict. It has also extended over $5 million to rebuild schools, homes, and psychosocial recovery centers for children and families through a partnership with the Olena Zelenska Foundation.

Beyond aid, the UAE is investing in Ukraine’s future — strengthening trade, supporting reconstruction, and co-hosting “Ukraine Month” in 2026 to promote long-term cooperation.
